The popular theory on Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer reporting that WWE has bigger plans for John Cena at WrestleMania 34 than a match with AJ Styles is that Cena might finally be getting to dance with The Undertaker on The Grandest Stage of Them All.
It makes sense. Fighting The Phenom has been at least a “co-main event” caliber match at ‘Mania for more than a decade, and as Cena approaches the end of his career, it’s one of the few things missing from his résumé. The rumor says The Free Agent’s program for the April 8 show will be made clear in the next few weeks, and Raw’s 25th Anniversary show – complete with an appearance by The Dead Man – is on Jan. 22, so…
Of course, there’s the fact that Undertaker got a pretty cool send off at WrestleMania 33 last March. And that the 52 year old (he’ll be 53 by the time WWE hits New Orleans next Spring) didn’t look like a man who should be wrestling any more. But he’s been to some doctors and had a lot of time off since then – and, honestly, we all kind of love this annual “should he or shouldn’t he?” debate, don’t we?
Anyway, that’s all just set-up for what I really want to share here. That’s this badass poster which has been making the rounds in support of Cena vs. Taker at 34:
Unfortunately, if you’ve seen it represented anywhere on the internet as being created by WWE, or in any way as evidence that the match is definitely happening, [insert Wade Barrett GIF here] I’m afraid I have some bad news. The poster’s been around for about a year and it definitely didn’t come from Stamford – it seems to have first been posted to reddit in January 2017 by a user named theonlycarrot.
But… if we are going to get John Cena vs. The Undertaker in the Superdome, we know where WWE can look for some promotional design inspiration.
